“Edge of Cliff”
Klippkanten, or the edge of the cliff, aims to explore how the rocky cliff-face can inspire simple design. The Oregon coast balances stability and unpredictability, making for an awe-inspiring view.
Looking at Precedent
This piece uses cantilevering principles to support its weight. With the legs or base firmly grounded and correctly supported, the table can hold “floating weight,” giving the impression of mass extending effortlessly into space. This is ideal to capture balanced instability.
Sketch Concept
Klippkanten swaps front legs for an apron-connected cantilever system. This architectural shift allows the piece to offer the record forward, while balancing safe storage with easy side access.
